Xugong Completing Road Machinery Helps Cambodia Jingang Expressway Construction

When we open the world map, we will find, according to the “Building the Belt and Road”: Concepts, Practice and Chinese Contributions announced officially in May 2017, which describes the development blueprint of the five major directions, Cambodia is just in the core area among three major directions. China makes the deepening cooperation with Cambodia under the “Belt and Road”, and this measure will not only promote the China-Indochina Economic construction , but also provide an important support for the extension of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road to the Indian Ocean and the South Pacific.

Recently, the first high-speed highway in Cambodia, Jingang Expressway, will hold the opening ceremony in the capital of Phnom Penh. Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Kong Yuyou, Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wentian, Cambodian Minister of Public Works and Transportation Sun Zhantuo, China Road and Bridge Chairman Lushan , General Manager of the Xugong Road Machinery Division, Cui Jisheng, the other  representatives of the two countries, and 20,000 local people attended the groundbreaking ceremony.

“Golden Port Expressway” is an important project of high-quality cooperation between China and Cambodia under the “Belt and Road”. It has the whole length 190 kilometers and more than 2 billion US dollars in the total investment. After completion, the original 5-hour drive from Phnom Penh to Westport will be shortened to within 2 hours. This project will greatly reduce logistics costs and drive economic and social development along the route.
